Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Developing and delivering asset strategies for ferries and supporting infrastructure, balancing safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Managing technical assurance frameworks and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and engineering standards.
  • Tackling technical and operational challenges head on keeping vessels in service and projects on schedule.
  • Working closely with operators, engineers, and suppliers to align priorities and deliver robust asset plans.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and driving continuous improvement across maintenance and lifecycle planning.
  • Spending time on-site inspecting vessels, engaging with shipyards, and understanding real-world conditions.

This is a hands-on role where your decisions will directly influence the safety and performance of NSW’s ferry network.

About you

You’re an asset management professional who combines technical expertise with strategic thinking. You’re confident engaging with maritime engineers, operators, and suppliers, and you know how to keep complex systems running smoothly.

You bring:

  • Engineering qualifications
  • Experience in asset management, ideally within maritime or ferry environments.
  • Strong knowledge of technical assurance, compliance, and maritime standards.
  • Skills in stakeholder engagement, planning, problem-solving, and contract management.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work autonomously and suggest innovative solutions.
  • Comfort working in outsourced delivery environments.

Mode-specific experience is highly valued:

Understanding of ferry fleet operations, shipyard infrastructure, and maritime compliance requirements.
