Job summary

Department of Education Victoria seeks a seasoned leader to head the Assessment Operations Division in Melbourne. You will oversee external assessment programs, lead a large team, manage budgets and ensure high standards across VCE, NAPLAN and GAT processes.

You will drive performance, foster a safe and inclusive workplace, and liaise with government, schools and partners to deliver high-quality outcomes under tight timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a high-performing team to deliver high-quality assessment services.
• Drive and sustain a positive organisational culture aligned with VPS values.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
• Provide leadership in a dynamic environment, balancing priorities and tight timeframes.
• Provide authoritative analysis and expert advice to support evidence-based decision-making.
• Drive continuous improvement and ensure alignment with legislation and organisational requirements.
• Lead development, implementation and review of procedures for coordinating external assessment programs.
• Oversee the administration and marking of external assessments, including NAPLAN and high-stakes exams.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding and management of resources to support external assessment operations.
