Job description

We're looking for an experienced Assembly Worker to join a high-performing team building advanced military vehicle systems. This is a hands-on role at the heart of Australian defence manufacturing — assembling, fitting, and verifying complex mechanical and electrical systems on heavy defence vehicles.

If you've served in the Australian Defence Force or worked in a defence environment, we want to hear from you.

Your technical background, discipline, and understanding of defence standards will set you up for success from day one.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll lead by example on the workshop floor while contributing directly to the assembly of world-class military platforms. Day to day, you'll:

  • Assemble mechanical systems, wiring harnesses, brackets, sensors, and structural components to detailed work instructions and defence standards
  • Bolt, torque, align, and verify mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Mentor and guide junior assembly workers, sharing your experience and raising team capability
  • Lead complex or high-risk test and assembly activities
  • Inspect your own work and report issues promptly to supervisors and QA
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workspace and comply with all PPE and safety requirements
  • Record completed tasks accurately and work collaboratively with team members across production and quality
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a quality mindset
  • Forklift, dogging/rigging, or overhead crane tickets
  • Background in defence, automotive, or heavy industrial environments — ex-ADF members and defence industry veterans are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Baseline security clearance required (or the ability to obtain one)

This is a full-time workshop role. You'll work in a production environment with standard workshop conditions including noise, dust, and temperature variation. Full PPE is required for all shifts.

Why Join Us?
  • Be part of building genuine defence capability for Australia
  • Stable, long-term full-time employment with real career progression
  • Work alongside a skilled, collaborative, and tight-knit team
  • Contribute to the production of high-value, complex defence systems
