Job summary

Downer is seeking a Technical Manager to lead its WA asphalt labs in Gosnatta? and Hope Valley and the mobile testing capability, reporting to Production Manager as second in charge. You will drive process control, cost-effective mix design, and external testing growth while building a capable team.

The role requires deep asphalt expertise, NATA signatory status, ISO/IEC 17025 experience, and a commercial mindset to engage with clients and optimize margins. Relocation to WA may be considered.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in asphalt and MRWA specifications.
• NATA Approved Signatory for asphalt testing.
• Experience leading a NATA accredited laboratory under ISO/IEC 17025.
• Commercial cost/price understanding and client negotiation.
• Strong data handling and statistical process control capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee laboratory operations across two labs and mobile capability.
• Improve QA systems with process control charting and supplier ITPs.
• Develop low-cost mix designs that meet specs and customer demand.
• Grow external testing revenue through business development activities.
• Lead training, succession planning and capability building.
