Job summary

RAW Art in Sydney is seeking a Sydney-based casual workshop presenter to deliver hands-on visual arts experiences in primary schools. You will run 60–90 minute workshops (K–6) and lead holiday programs, while following RAW Art lesson plans.

You will liaise with schools, prep materials weekly at our Alexandria storage facility, and train under supervision with opportunities to progress to full duties. A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are essential.

Qualifications

• Applicant should be enthusiastic and capable of engaging primary school students.
• Love of working with children and strong class management are essential.
• A teaching background is preferred but not essential.
• Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate varying workshops.

Responsibilities

• Present workshops from K–6 at various primary schools around Sydney.
• Run school holiday workshops according to RAW Art plans.
• Liaise with schools and teachers to coordinate sessions.
• Weekly prep of resources at the Alexandria storage facility.
• Observe lessons during training and help senior artists, then conduct classes under supervision.

Raw Art is a mobile Visual Arts service conducting hands‑on art workshops in Primary Schools around Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Sydney. We have successfully been in operation for30 years, and have an extensive happy client base who book into our Program yearly.

We are looking for a Sydney – based casual workshop presenter. He/She/They needs to display an enthusiastic attitude, a love of working with children and great class management skills, along with a flexible schedule

ROLE DESCRIPTION –

presenting workshops from K – 6 year levels at various primary schools (both Private and Public) around Sydney

running school holiday workshops

Following the RAW Art program/lesson plans, presenter will be running 60 - 90 minute hands‑on activities, giving students step by step instructions to create a specific art piece.

Liaising/Networking with schools/teachers

weekly prepping of resources at our Alexandria storage facility

A storage facility is provided for equipment.

All resources are provided by RAW Art.

Training:

will commence ASAP

Training details to be discussed.

Your role in that time will be observing lessons/workshop structure/equipment management, along with helping senior artists, and conducting classes under supervision.

RATES:

Pay rates during training will be $45 per workshop (week 1)

Pay rates during your probation period will be at a rate of $50 per workshop (week 2)

On completion of training Artists will be commencing workshops/duties at full rate

Artists are paid $35 per hour + super

Travel fee to be discussed (applies to schools only on the outer edge of Sydney)

Generally 2 - 3 x 90 minute workshops are conducted per day Initially work load may vary between 1-3 days per week. These are not fixed days – they will vary each week.

There are some regularafter- school workshops, and school holiday workshops.

Some of the schools we are visiting in Term 4 - Padstow North, Baulkham Hills, Hoxton Park, Hunters Hill, Melrose park, Maroubra, Granville east.

The applicant must –

• Be willing to travel – all workshops are conducted within the Sydney area
• Be based in Sydney
• have a current drivers licence, and a reliable vehicle
• have a flexible schedule
• have a passion for the Visual Arts and Primary Education
• love working with children
• enjoy physical and challenging work
• have a strong work ethic
• have a teaching background, preferably with a visual arts focus (not essential)
