Job description

Mini Miracles Family Day Care – Hillcrest QLD

A Rare Multi-Site Leadership Opportunity in Early Childhood Education

We are looking for an experienced early childhood professional ready to step into a unique leadership position spanning both Family Day Care (FDC) and Long Day Care (LDC) services.

This is not a traditional centre-based management role.

As our Area Manager, you will work across multiple services, locations and service types, supporting educators, coordinators and service leadership while helping drive compliance, quality, consistency and continuous improvement across a growing organisation.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior management and have genuine input into how our services operate and develop.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to take the next step beyond managing a single service and build valuable experience in multi-site operations, regulatory compliance, educator development and organisational leadership.

We are specifically seeking experienced candidates who already have a strong understanding of the early childhood sector. This is not an entry-level management position.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day operation, compliance and quality of multiple early childhood education and care services.

The position combines leadership, mentoring, compliance, quality assurance and hands‑on operational support.

Rather than spending every day behind a desk, you will regularly visit services and educators, observe practice, identify opportunities for improvement, support teams and help ensure that high standards are maintained across the organisation.

You will be trusted to take ownership of your responsibilities, use your professional judgement and work collaboratively with management to resolve issues and strengthen our services.

What Makes This Role Different?

This position offers exposure that is difficult to gain in a traditional single-service role.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work across both Family Day Care and Long Day Care environments.
  • Develop genuine multi-site management and leadership experience.
  • Work closely with senior management and contribute to operational and compliance decisions.
  • Support and mentor educators and coordinators and service leaders across different locations.
  • Gain extensive experience in NQF, NQS, CCS compliance, Assessment & Rating and continuous improvement.
  • Lead audits, quality reviews and improvement initiatives rather than simply participating in them.
  • Help develop systems, processes and practices as the organisation continues to grow.
  • Build a career pathway into broader senior operations, compliance and executive-level early childhood management.

For an experienced professional who enjoys variety, responsibility and making a measurable difference, this role offers significantly more scope than managing the day‑to‑day operation of a single centre.

Key Responsibilities

As Area Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and reporting directly to the Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader.
  • Monitoring compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, National Quality Standard (NQS), approved learning frameworks and applicable Child Care Subsidy requirements.
  • Conducting regular service and educator visits, compliance audits, observations, spot checks and quality assurance reviews.
  • Identifying compliance risks and working with educators, coordinators and management to implement practical corrective actions.
  • Implementing, reviewing and monitoring policies, procedures and operational practices across multiple services.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing educators and coordinators to strengthen practice and accountability.
  • Facilitating staff and educator inductions, professional development, workshops and team meetings.
  • Supporting CCS compliance, including attendance accuracy, enrolment and session practices, record keeping and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting preparation for Assessment and Rating, including QIP development, evidence gathering and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigating incidents, complaints and compliance concerns and assisting management with appropriate responses and follow-up actions.
  • Building positive professional relationships with educators, employees, families and regulatory authorities.
  • Supporting rostering, workforce planning, documentation and service administration where required.
  • Following up identified issues to ensure corrective actions are completed and improvements are sustained.
  • Supporting consistency and accountability across geographically dispersed services.
  • Assisting management with new initiatives, service growth and operational improvements.
Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who already understands the realities of working in early childhood education and care.

You may currently be working as an Area Manager, Operations Manager, Centre Director, Nominated Supervisor, Family Day Care Coordinator, Educational Leader, Compliance Manager or experienced Assistant Director and are ready for a broader role.

You will be someone who can walk into a service, understand what is happening, identify areas requiring attention and confidently work with the team to improve them.

You should be comfortable balancing support and accountability — building strong relationships with educators and staff while maintaining clear expectations around compliance and professional practice.

Essential Skills & Experience

Successful applicants will have:

  • Demonstrated and substantial experience within the early childhood education and care sector.
  • Previous leadership, management, coordination or senior compliance experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard, EYLF v2.0 and relevant National Law and Regulations.
  • Practical experience with compliance monitoring, audits and quality assurance.
  • Experience with Child Care Subsidy compliance and attendance requirements.
  • Experience supporting, supervising or managing educators and/or early childhood teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • The confidence to manage competing priorities across multiple locations.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and sound professional judgement.
  • The ability to coach, mentor and have constructive but sometimes difficult conversations when standards are not being met.
  • High attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy and experience with childcare management systems.
  • A professional, proactive and accountable approach to work.

Please note: due to the level of responsibility involved, applications from candidates without relevant early childhood sector experience will not be considered.

Highly Regarded

The following will be highly regarded:

  • Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • Previous Family Day Care experience.
  • Previous Long Day Care management experience.
  • Experience overseeing more than one service, location or team.
  • Previous Area Manager, Operations Manager, Nominated Supervisor, Centre Director or senior coordinator experience.
  • Experience preparing services for Assessment and Rating.
  • Strong understanding of CCS compliance and Family Assistance Law requirements.
  • Experience conducting compliance audits or investigations.
  • Experience developing and implementing policies and operational systems.
Requirements

The successful candidate will need to hold or be willing to maintain all relevant requirements for the position, including:

  • Current Working with Children / Blue Card requirements.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification where applicable.
  • Current Australian driver's licence.
  • Reliable vehicle.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly between services and educator locations across Toowoomba, Scenic Rim, Ipswich, Logan, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Why Join Us?

We are a growing early childhood organisation, and this position has been designed for someone who wants to grow with us.

We want the successful person to become an important part of our leadership structure — someone who understands our services, builds strong relationships with our teams and helps us maintain high standards as the organisation develops.

You will be given real responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to influence how services operate, while still having the support of the Nominated Supervisor, Educational Leader and management team.

No two weeks will necessarily look the same. One day you may be mentoring an educator, another conducting a compliance review, supporting a centre team, preparing for Assessment and Rating, delivering a workshop or working with management on an operational improvement.

If you are an experienced early childhood professional who enjoys leadership, compliance, mentoring and problem-solving, and you are looking for a position with greater variety and responsibility than a traditional single-service role, we would like to hear from you.
