Job summary

Hornsby Shire Council is seeking motivated individuals to join our Parks Service Unit. These roles offer outdoor work in a supportive team environment, helping to maintain iconic public spaces and develop career skills.

Applicants should have a White Card, be willing to work with varying equipment, and demonstrate teamwork and fitness for physical tasks. The position is permanent full time, with salary based on skills and experience, plus superannuation and fortnightly RDOs.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Arboriculture is required.
• Ability to work in a team environment and maintain health and fitness for physical duties.
• General Construction Induction Card (White Card) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance of the treescape within Hornsby Shire.
• Ensure equipment is used safely and efficiently.
• Assist with the care and maintenance of plant equipment including Elevated Work Platform, wood chipper and chainsaws.
• Maintain a safe workplace and follow safety procedures.

Salary

$67,648.51 to $79,713.44 per annum (based on 76 hours per fortnight) plus superannuation and an RDO each fortnight. Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications and experience

About the role

This position is responsible to the Parks and Recreation Service Unit supervisors and exists in order to:

• Assist in the maintenance of the treescape within Hornsby Shire
• Ensure that items of plant utilised in a safe and efficient manner
• Assist in the care and maintenance of plant equipment utilised including Elevated Work Platform, wood chipper and chainsaws
• Assist in maintaining a safe workplace

A high standard of service and safety is necessary as you will be required to take appropriate action in maintaining the urban treescape throughout the Hornsby local government area.

Position requirements

• General Construction Induction Card (White Card) - essential
• Advanced chainsaw training - desirable
• Current MR and / or HR drivers licence - desirable
• Current Elevated Work Platform operators license - desirable
• Current Traffic Controller ticket - desirable

About you

To be successful, you will need to have Certificate III in Arboriculture and be able to work in a team environment. You will have good listening and the ability to maintain a good level of healthand fitness to carry out the physical requirements of this role.
