Job summary

NEPEAN Engineering is seeking a motivated 3rd Year Apprentice Fitter Machinist to join our Prestons, NSW facility. You will focus on machining components using manual and CNC equipment while developing mechanical fitting skills.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with CNC operation, lathes, milling machines, inspection, and component finishing, in a supportive workshop. You’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople, progressing toward trade qualification in a collaborative environment within the

Qualifications

• Must have completed early stages of a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade and be keen to develop as a machinist.
• You’ll produce and finish components using manual and CNC machinery, with mechanical fitting and general workshop duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes and milling machines to manufacture and modify components.
• Support CNC machine setup and operation, including loading jobs and selecting tools.
• Read engineering drawings, work instructions and technical specifications.
• Measure, mark out and inspect components with precision measuring equipment.
• Produce components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Complete deburring, grinding and finishing of machined parts.
• Assist with mechanical fitting, assembly, maintenance and repair tasks.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment.
