Job summary

Convair Engineering is seeking an Apprentice Boilermaker to join our Epping, Melbourne team on a full-time basis. You will interpret engineering drawings, mark out accurately, identify materials and defects, and perform thermal shaping of steel while assembling prepared components in line with drawings.

You will safely operate power and hand tools such as grinders, drills, guillotines and cut-off saws, under the Boilershop Team Leader and with the Workshop Team.

Qualifications

• Currently undergoing a Boilermaker/Welding apprenticeship
• Strong commitment to safe working practices and procedures
• Proficiency in handling materials, tools, and heavy machinery
• Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to detail
• A positive work ethic and proactive approach
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Job description

Convair Engineering is looking for an Apprentice Boilermaker to join our Epping, Melbourne team on a full-time basis, playing a key role in the fabrication of road tanker pressure vessels and specialised equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings and sketches, applying accurate marking out techniques and identifying materials and any defects. You will carry out thermal applications such as bending, forming and shaping steel, and assemble and track prepared steel in line with drawing requirements. The position also involves the safe operation of a range of power and hand tools, including angle grinders, pistol drills, guillotines and cut-off saws. This role will report to the Boilershop Team Leader and collaborates closely with the Workshop Team.
