Job summary

Charterhouse Partnership in North Sydney is seeking a Risk & Compliance Lead to own the APAC risk and compliance program in a newly created role, reporting to senior leadership and guiding an offshore team. The role operates on a hybrid basis with a clear mandate to shape policies, controls, and risk culture across APAC.

You will partner with Sales, Client Services and Operations to ensure regulatory alignment, provide commercially-focused advice, and drive continuous improvement of risk

Qualifications

• Experience across Risk & Compliance, Operational Risk, GRC or related discipline.
• Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into controls.
• Strong stakeholder management with senior leaders.
• Commercial and solutions-focused approach to risk.
• Experience in multi-jurisdictional environments.
• Adaptable in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with risk frameworks, assurance, controls, incidents and remediation.
• Experience in HR, recruitment, workforce solutions or professional services is valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the APAC risk and compliance framework.
• Maintain regional policies, standards and regulatory obligations.
• Monitor regulatory developments across APAC and translate into practical requirements.
• Provide risk and compliance advice to senior stakeholders across functions.
• Assess the effectiveness of processes and controls; identify improvements.
• Lead assurance reviews, remediation activities and root-cause investigations.
• Manage risk and compliance incidents, including escalation and reporting.
• Oversee regulatory reporting, licences and review calendars.
• Support new services and initiatives from a risk/compliance perspective.
• Prepare reporting for regional and Group stakeholders.
• Guide offshore Risk & Compliance team.
• Foster a strong risk-aware culture across APAC.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Risk & Compliance Lead to join a growing global business in a newly created position based in North Sydney.

This is a genuine opportunity to make your mark and influence the direction of risk and compliance across APAC. As a newly created role, you’ll have the freedom to shape and improve processes, build strong relationships across the business and implement practical solutions.

About the role

• Leading and continuously improving the APAC risk and compliance framework
• Maintaining regional policies, standards and regulatory obligations
• Monitoring regulatory developments across multiple APAC jurisdictions and translating these into practical business requirements
• Providing commercially focused risk and compliance advice to senior stakeholders across Sales, Client Services, Operations and other functions
• Assessing the effectiveness of business processes and controls and identifying areas for improvement
• Leading assurance reviews, remediation activities and root-cause investigations
• Managing risk and compliance incidents, including escalation and reporting where required
• Overseeing regulatory reporting, compliance calendars, licence renewals and scheduled reviews
• Supporting new services, clients and business initiatives from a risk and compliance perspective
• Preparing clear and insightful reporting for regional and Group stakeholders
• Working closely with and providing guidance to an established offshore Risk & Compliance team
• Supporting the development of a strong risk-aware and accountable culture across APAC

About you

• Experience across Risk & Compliance, Operational Risk, GRC, Regulatory Compliance or a related discipline
• Experience interpreting regulatory requirements and translating them into practical business controls
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence engaging senior leaders
• A commercial and solutions-focused approach to risk and compliance
• Experience working across complex or multi-jurisdictional environments
• The ability to adapt to change and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with risk frameworks, assurance, controls, incidents and remediation
• Experience within HR, recruitment, workforce solutions or professional services highly regarded
