Job description

Engagement: Full-time, 2-year fixed-term contract

Travel: APAC, as required.

OpenAI is building a specialist team of Senior AI Technical Trainers in Australia, and VMS Group APAC is partnering with them to find the very best. Sydney is the primary delivery hub for the programme.

This is a senior, customer-facing technical training role within a large-scale enablement programme delivered on behalf of OpenAI. Rather than building production systems, you teach and enable the people who do. You will run instructor-led workshops and hands‑on labs that help Singapore's leading organisations adopt generative AI with genuine confidence. You are not expected to design or implement production customer solutions.

Who you will support:

In this role you will support OpenAI's enterprise and partner enablement efforts across the Sydney/Australia and NZ market. Your audiences will span the organisations OpenAI works with, including engineers, developers, solution architects, technical consultants, sales and pre‑sales teams, and business and executive stakeholders. You will partner closely with OpenAI programme leadership, VMS Group APAC, and regional stakeholders to ensure training is delivered consistently and to a premium standard, and that participants leave able to build with OpenAI's technology confidently.

You should be comfortable teaching and guiding hands‑on labs across several of the following areas:

  • Generative AI platforms and ecosystems
  • Large language models (LLMs) and foundation model concepts
  • Prompt engineering techniques and best practices
  • Retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) concepts and common patterns
  • AI agents and agentic workflows
  • API integration and developer workflows
  • SDKs, developer tools and technical documentation
  • Basic familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • Explaining technical concepts and implementation tradeoffs
  • Technical troubleshooting and live problem‑solving
  • Enterprise technology adoption and enablement

You do not need deep expertise in every area. You should bring enough foundational technical fluency to guide developer‑focused labs and explain the material clearly to mixed technical and business audiences.

Key responsibilities:
  • Deliver instructor‑led bootcamps, technical workshops and hands‑on lab sessions for partner organisations
  • Facilitate training for varied audiences, including engineers, developers, solution architects, technical consultants, sales teams and business stakeholders
  • Lead practical implementation exercises and technical labs, troubleshooting participant issues live during sessions
  • Translate complex AI concepts into practical, business‑relevant use cases
  • Drive engagement and participation across both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Represent OpenAI professionally and confidently with enterprise and strategic partner organisations
  • Maintain consistency and quality of delivery across the market
  • Support scalable training deployment models while preserving a premium learner experience
  • Partner closely with programme leadership and regional stakeholders to ensure successful training outcomes

The ideal candidate combines practical technical fluency, strong customer‑facing communication skills, and the facilitation expertise of an excellent instructor. You are comfortable explaining AI concepts to engineers, leading hands‑on workshops using prepared labs, and delivering executive‑friendly demonstrations to business and partner teams. A formal training background is welcome but not essential. We are equally interested in generative AI engineers, applied scientists, solutions architects, developer advocates and technical consultants who can teach and present credibly and enjoy helping others build with this technology.

Required qualifications:
  • A background in technical training, developer education, software development, technical consulting or technical enablement
  • Experience presenting, teaching or facilitating for professional or technical audiences, whether through formal training, workshops and bootcamps, developer relations, conference talks, technical mentoring, community education or content creation
  • Demonstrated expertise with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering methodologies, generative AI technologies, AI application development workflows, and APIs, SDKs and developer tools
  • Basic familiarity with cloud platforms and modern software environments
  • Hands‑on experience building, supporting, teaching or enabling labs for LLM‑based platforms, generative AI applications, AI agents or developer‑facing AI solutions
  • Ability to facilitate technical labs, guided workshops and practical application exercises in live environments
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot participant issues in real time
  • Ability to adapt communication style across varying technical proficiency levels
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and facilitation skills, with strong executive presence and customer‑facing professionalism
  • Ability to engage credibly across software engineers, developers, solution architects, technical consultants, sales and pre‑sales teams, and business and executive stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel primarily within Australia/NZ, to deliver workshops, hands‑on labs and bootcamps at partner and customer sites
  • Professional fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience delivering enterprise technical enablement programmes for global technology organisations
  • Experience with AI/ML platforms, generative AI ecosystems, developer relations, technical partner enablement or cloud infrastructure
  • Experience representing a technology company with strategic enterprise customers or partner organisations
  • Adult learning, facilitation, technical instruction, training delivery or corporate enablement certifications
  • Demonstrated success driving practitioner confidence, adoption and technology utilisation through learning programmes
  • Experience training both technical and non‑technical audiences within the same engagement model
  • Experience supporting certification, badging or partner enablement programmes at scale
Engagement and benefits:
  • A 2 year fixed term contract, full time
  • Full product training and certification provided by OpenAI
  • Company laptop and equipment provided to programme specification
  • Domestic travel and approved business expenses covered
  • You must hold valid Australian working rights.
