Job summary

Fulham Correctional Centre, part of The GEO Group Australia, is seeking a Health/Behavioral Science oriented AOD Specialist to support prisoners' access to in-prison drug and alcohol programs, focusing on harm minimisation and relapse prevention strategies.

You will facilitate group-based programs, collaborate with colleagues in a complex environment, and contribute to a safe, supportive environment with opportunities for GEO-sponsored study.

Qualifications

• A health, social or behavioral science undergraduate degree, a Certificate IV in AOD, Diploma in AOD, or extensive AOD experience.
• Experience working in the AOD sector in screening and assessment, case work, or program delivery.
• Desire to make a difference to the lives of people who may experience disadvantage, have challenging behaviours and complex needs.
• Experience collaborating with others in a complex environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy and cultural awareness.
• Resilience.

Responsibilities

• Support prisoners to access prison-based drug and alcohol programs and services.
• Focus on harm minimisation and facilitating programs that increase awareness of harm reduction.
• Facilitate group-based programs to build coping strategies and relapse prevention planning.
