Job summary

The Salvation Army Australia is seeking an experienced AOD Practitioner for a permanent full-time role based on-site in Swan Hill, VIC. You will provide assessments, counselling, and case management to support individuals with alcohol and other drug-related harms and promote recovery and wellbeing.

Reporting to the Mallee Non-Residential AOD Team Leader, you will work collaboratively with clients, families, and community partners to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care and interventions

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or related discipline (Diploma minimum).
  • Experience in AOD, counselling, case management or community services.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence and Working with Children Check.
  • AOD Skill Set qualification, or willingness to obtain within 12 months.

  • Conduct comprehensive AOD assessments and recovery planning.
  • Deliver evidence-based counselling and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide strengths-based, trauma-informed case management.
  • Support clients and families to achieve sustainable recovery.
  • Connect clients with health, housing and community support services.
  • Work with community partners across the Mallee region including Swan Hill, Mildura, Gannawarra and Buloke.

About The Role

As an AOD Practitioner, you will provide assessment, counselling, case management, and targeted interventions to support individuals experiencing alcohol and other drug-related harms. Working collaboratively with clients, families, and significant others, you will deliver person-centred support that promotes recovery, resilience, and positive health outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping people navigate challenges and improve their overall wellbeing through evidence-based care and support.

Reporting to the Mallee Non-Residential AOD Team Leader, this is a permanent full-time position, based on-site in Swan Hill, VIC.

Conditions

Compensation is in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 5.

You’ll be an experienced, compassionate practitioner who thrives on building trust and empowering people to achieve positive outcomes.

What You Will Bring
  • A qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related discipline (minimum Diploma in Community Services)
  • Experience in AOD, counselling, case management or community services
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice
  • A current Victorian Driver's Licence and Employee Working with Children Check
  • An AOD Skill Set qualification, or willingness to obtain it within your first 12 months
