Job summary

Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) seeks a Manager - Financial Analysis & Strategy to lead high-level financial analysis, modelling and forecasting supporting strategic investment and governance across the organisation. You will build on and maintain EDQ's new in-house budget model, delivering robust analyses for executive decision-making.

Lead financial planning, automate reporting with Power BI, and partner with business units on budgets, estimates and clear financial advice.

Qualifications

• Experience in financial analysis and modelling for executive decision-making.
• Strong governance, process controls and accounting knowledge.
• Power BI modelling and dashboard development experience.
• Proficiency with SAP and Power Platform tools.
• CA or CPA qualification highly regarded.

About the Role:

• You will lead high-level financial analysis, modelling and forecasting to support strategic investment, commercial and operational decision-making across the organisation. You'll build on and maintain EDQ's new in-house budget model. It's a real chance to change how finance works here, from processes and controls through to reporting.
• Build, maintain and evolve EDQ's budget and finance model as the business grows
• Deliver financial analysis, modelling, forecasting and scenario analysis to support investment, commercial and operational decisions
• Partner with business units and project teams on budgets, estimates and clear financial advice
• Automate reporting and build real time Power BI dashboards and performance reports for senior management
• Improve financial processes, controls and governance across the organisation
• Prepare business cases, financial assessments and briefings for executive and governance audiences
• Oversee a small team, with scope to grow it as the function expands

About You:

• You will come from a governance and systems background. You're methodical, self-motivated and a natural partner to the business. You communicate clearly, and you're comfortable challenging the business and asking the right questions.
• Government experience is essential, and a mix of government and private sector experience would be ideal
• Experience in financial analysis and modelling, including preparing assessments and recommendations for executive leaders, senior leaders and government decision makers
• Strong governance, process and controls experience, with a solid grasp of accounting principles
• Power BI modelling skills, including reporting and dashboard development
• Strong working knowledge of SAP, and experience with Power Platform, including Power Automate
• The confidence to present complex financial information to executive and senior leaders
• A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Business, Applied Finance or a related discipline, and a CA or CPA qualification would be highly regarded
