Job summary

Sydney Dogs and Cats Home is seeking an Animal Care Attendant to join our team at our new facility in Kurnell, NSW. You will deliver high-quality husbandry, care and enrichment to keep animals happy, healthy and ready for adoption.

You'll also assist with behaviour assessments, development of care plans, and participate in adoption meets. The role requires a current driver's licence and Australian work rights; experience caring for animals in shelters is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience working with animals in a shelter or pound facility.
• Animal care certification or behaviour qualification with an aligned training institute, or experience in animal care or behaviour support is highly regarded
• Ability to contribute toward the development of rehabilitation programs and training initiatives for animals in care, and experience implementing rehabilitation programs
• Experience and ability to handle and support animals displaying complex and fearful behaviours
• Experience in delivering efficient, timely and exemplary internal and external customer service
• Current driver's licence
• Australian work rights are required for this position

Responsibilities

• Provide the animals with an exceptional level of husbandry, care and enrichment to ensure they are happy, healthy and their lives are enriched on a daily basis.
• Assist with behaviour assessments and reviews, implement behaviour intervention and care plans, and implement exercise and enrichment strategies to support animal welfare.
• Undertake adoption meets, educate adopters on animal care and animal behaviour, and decide on the best home for the animals in your care.
• Assist with vet exams and administer preventative treatments and medications.
• Provide the highest level of customer service to both internal and external customers at all times, promoting the values and work of the organisation.
