Job summary

Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) invites applications for an Allied Health Assistant in the Emergency Multidisciplinary Assessment Team (EMAT). This casual role supports Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Social Workers, helping patients maximise independence from ED arrival to discharge.

You will work under supervision, assist with equipment, ensure safe spaces, and contribute to quality improvement while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team across CALHN sites.

Qualifications

• Hold a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
• Apply therapeutic skills under allied health professional direction
• Recognise patient changes and escalated concerns appropriately
• Manage priorities, deadlines and workload effectively
• Communicate clearly while maintaining patient confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Support patients in the Emergency Department and community to maximise functional outcomes
• Monitor patient progress and report changes to clinicians
• Prepare and adjust therapy equipment and aids
• Support patient transfers, transport and personal care needs
• Record interventions and patient outcomes accurately
• Collaborate with allied health and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain safe, clean therapy spaces and equipment
• Contribute to quality improvement and research activities

About the Role

Join our Emergency Multidisciplinary Assessment Team (EMAT) and make a real difference from the moment patients arrive in the Emergency Department through to their discharge home. Working under guidance from Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Social Workers, you'll provide hands on support with interventions, help patients to maximise independence and achieve timely discharge. No two days are the same in this rewarding and varied role.

About You

You are a caring and adaptable Allied Health Assistant who works confidently with patients and clinical teams while delivering safe, respectful and responsive care.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Recognise patient changes and escalated concerns appropriately
• Manage priorities, deadlines and workload effectively
