Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Technical Certification Engineer based at RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW, to lead airworthiness certification efforts for Australia’s F‑35 capability development and sustainment. You will work with Defence and industry partners on certification and compliance activities.

Role requires strong experience in aircraft certification, lifecycle engineering, and risk-based decision making, plus the ability to produce clear certification documentation and guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree or equivalent.
• Experience with aircraft certification and MIL‑HDBK‑516C.
• Understanding the engineering life cycle (requirements, design, V&V, safety).
• Ability to review technical docs and provide risk-based airworthiness advice.
• Experience preparing certification documents and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver aircraft certification activities, including configuration and software changes, with Defence and industry stakeholders.
• Plan and coordinate Type certification for ongoing capability upgrades.
• Review airworthiness documentation and compliance evidence.
• Prepare and maintain certification documents, checklists, and papers.
• Identify and manage engineering risks, and provide risk-based recommendations.
• Provide engineering advice across systems engineering activities (requirements, design, integration, V&V, test).
• Support stakeholder engagement, technical reviews, and certification governance.
• Contribute to system safety, reliability and maintainability activities.
