Job summary

Betashares Capital is seeking a Software Engineer to operate and mature an internal AI Platform as it moves from a live prototype to reliable business-as-usual operation. The role focuses on hands-on platform engineering and DevSecOps, improving deployment, security, observability and day-to-day support while building a deep understanding of the platform.

You’ll work with platform engineers across AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, TypeScript and event-driven services, growing to broader backend

Qualifications

• Experience writing and debugging backend code in TypeScript or a related language.
• Practical experience deploying or supporting cloud-hosted applications and containerised workloads.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and protected release processes.
• Understanding of relational databases and API design.
• Familiarity with secure development practices and secrets management.
• Ability to learn new systems, document changes and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Improve platform operational maturity by delivering changes to make deployments and maintenance reliable.
• Operate and improve AWS and Kubernetes environments, automate infrastructure changes and maintain configuration.
• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines with automated tests, security checks and safe rollback.
• Implement security controls for secrets, permissions and audit logging.
• Improve monitoring, logging and alerting; investigate incidents and improve reliability and cost efficiency.
• Support PostgreSQL operations and event-driven services across boundaries.
• Build and maintain TypeScript backend services and internal tooling.
• Document procedures and prioritise improvements with stakeholders.
• Contribute to design reviews and progressively take responsibility for architectural decisions.
