Flight Centre Travel Group is seeking a Senior to Principal AI/ML Engineer to drive design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI solutions across ML, generative AI, and agent-based workflows. In this senior position, you will drive the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI solutions across machine learning, generative AI, intelligent agents, and agentic workflows. You'll influence enterprise-wide AI strategy, build scalable platforms and capabilities, and lead a high-performing team to deliver innovative solutions that enhance customer experiences and business outcomes at global scale.

DAY TO DAY YOU WILL

• Lead the development and product ionisation of machine learning models, LLM-powered systems and agent-based applications
• Define and build end-to-end MLOps capabilities including CI/CD, model registry, monitoring, drift detection and retraining pipelines
• Establish LLMOps standards covering context engineering, evaluation pipelines, safeguards, red teaming and policy guardrails
• Architect and build AI agent workflows, orchestration layers, gateways and endpoints to enable secure and scalable AI solutions
• Design and govern MCP servers and agent communication protocols to ensure interoperability, scalability and security
• Implement observability practices across machine learning and generative AI systems, including reliability, latency, evaluation and cost monitoring
• Drive scalable machine learning infrastructure, feature stores and data platforms using Databricks
• Oversee Kubernetes-based deployments and cloud-native AI infrastructure
• Partner with senior stakeholders to prioritise and deliver multiple high-impact AI initiatives
• Coach, mentor and grow a high-performing AI engineering team

YOU'LL BE PERFECT IF YOU HAVE

• 5+ years' experience delivering production-grade machine learning or AI systems with proven commercial impact
• Experience building AI agents or LLM-powered applications in production environments
• Strong hands-on expertise in ML infrastructure, distributed systems and scalable AI architecture
• Experience building and governing AI agent platforms, including tool orchestration, gateways and endpoints
• Familiarity with MCP servers and emerging agent communication protocols and standards
• Experience developing evaluation frameworks, governance controls and safety mechanisms for LLM and agent-based systems
• Deep knowledge of Python, modern AI/ML frameworks and Databricks
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native production environments
• A degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
