Box Hill Institute invites a strategic leader to establish and govern the Victorian TAFE Network Central AI Hub. You will shape governance, policy standards and delivery frameworks, coordinating AI initiatives across 11 TAFEs and universities, and engaging with government and industry leaders.

The role leads governance, risk, compliance and programs, ensuring responsible AI adoption while building the Institute's AI maturity across Victoria’s education sector.

As the lead host TAFE for the Victorian TAFE Network Central AI Hub, we're not just adopting AI, we're helping define how it is used responsibly, safely and effectively across the entire Victorian TAFE sector. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of one of the largest education transformation initiatives currently underway in Australia.

We're seeking an exceptional AI Governance & Project Lead to help build, shape and drive the governance, strategy and implementation foundations that will accelerate AI maturity across Victoria's TAFE network. This is not a role where you inherit established processes. You will be the first appointment into the AI Hub, creating frameworks, governance structures, standards and delivery mechanisms from the ground up while collaborating with government, industry and education leaders to shape the future of AI-enabled education.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Digital, AI and Data Services, you will lead governance, program coordination and stakeholder engagement activities for the Victorian TAFE Network Central AI Hub.

You will:

• Drive implementation of the Victorian TAFE Network AI Strategy
• Develop governance frameworks, policies, standards and operating models
• Lead sector-wide AI risk, compliance and assurance activities
• Coordinate AI initiatives across 11 TAFEs and dual-sector universities
• Build relationships with executive leaders, government stakeholders and AI delivery teams
• Manage complex programs, reporting, benefits realisation and strategic planning
• Shape future AI capability and governance across the Victorian education sector.

About you

You're a strategic thinker who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys creating structure where none exists.

You'll bring experience developing governance frameworks, managing complex programs, influencing senior stakeholders and translating emerging technologies into practical business outcomes.

Experience with AI governance, risk management, public sector environments or education settings will be highly regarded.
