Job summary

Services Australia is seeking an AI Cloud Engineer / Developer (APS6 equivalent) to lead complex AI/ML projects and deliver scalable, secure cloud platform solutions. You will design, implement and optimise environments across on‑premises and hybrid clouds, collaborating with data scientists, architecture, and cyber security teams.

The role requires extensive experience in AI engineering, Kubernetes, DevOps, and IaC, with a focus on secure, compliant deployments and governance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience as an AI engineer focusing on AI/ML platforms across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, container tooling, and security practices in scalable architectures.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Git, Terraform, Ansible, Argo CD).
• Proficient in Python and scripting for automation and platform tooling.
• Familiarity with AI workloads, model lifecycle, deployment, monitoring and governance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee software development projects and provide technical leadership to a team of engineers.
• Design, implement and operate greenfield and brownfield AI/ML environments across on‑premises, cloud and hybrid platforms.
• Apply secure-by-design architectures using IaC and reusable patterns to deliver scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Architecture, Cyber Security and Core data teams to establish platform capability and governance.
• Deliver go‑live support, maintenance, and proactive improvements while complying with APS policies.
