Job summary

TikTok's Video Arch Intelligent Immersive Audio Team in Australia seeks a PhD-level researcher to push immersive audio technology, research ML models for AI codecs, and contribute to international standards (MPEG, 3GPP, IETF).

You will develop high‑compression full‑band AI audio codecs using VQ‑VAE, GANs, and diffusion; help build machine-oriented audio representations; and work with cross‑functional teams on TikTok's audio needs and global collaborations.

Qualifications

• PhD required in CS, electronic information, communications engineering, information and systems, or AI.
• Ability to model digital signals and AI/deep learning algorithms; experience in international standard formulation preferred.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop a high compression rate full-band AI audio codec algorithm system based on generative frameworks.
• Research model architectures such as VQ-VAE, GAN, and diffusion for audio representations.
• Participate in development of audio standards domestically and internationally (e.g., MPEG, 3GPP, IETF).
