Key Responsibilities:
- Examine soil characteristics and topography to optimise land use and detect nutrient imbalances for crop propagation.
- Assist in planning, planting, fertilising, and harvesting schedules to maximise yield and production efficiency.
- Identify pests, fungi, weeds, and other crop threats, and implement effective control strategies.
- Monitor crop health and growth to ensure quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Provide technical guidance on deploying precision agricultural technologies and farm-management systems.
- Install, operate, and maintain irrigation systems, sensors, and other horticultural equipment.
- Collect and analyse field data, including soil moisture, growth metrics, and pest incidence, to support agronomic decisions.
- Support crop breeding and propagation programs to improve yield, quality, and disease resistance.
- Advise on sustainable horticultural practices, ensuring compliance with environmental and industry standards.
- Assist in post-harvest processes such as grading, packaging, and storage of produce.
- Train and supervise farm staff or seasonal workers in technical farming practices and operational procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing productivity, efficiency, and commercial outcomes of the farm.
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:
- Proven hands-on experience in crop cultivation, propagation, and field management in a horticultural or agritech setting.
- Practical experience in monitoring crop health, managing irrigation and fertilisation, and implementing pest and disease control measures.
- Experience operating and maintaining horticultural equipment and applying modern agricultural technologies.
- Prior experience in supervising farm staff or seasonal workers and supporting post-harvest processes.
- Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, including soil management, planting, and crop monitoring.
