Job summary

A community support provider is seeking compassionate Support Workers in Orange City Council to assist participants with disabilities. Responsibilities include personal care, community access, and documentation of services. Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills and a person-centred approach. Qualifications

Oyster Care is in the business of providing services and support to people with disabilities. Our aim is to assist our participants in the pursuit of their life choices, either in their own home or the community, to enable greater quality of life experiences.

Oyster Care provides support services including in‑home assistance, accommodation support, and everyday life skills development both on a one‑to‑one basis and through group support options.

We are in search for enthusiastic and reliable Support Workers to support participants with complex behaviours.

Casual and Part‑Time Positions available!

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for the day to day care of Participants with physical disabilities and / or mental illness. Our Support workers enable our participants to reach their full potential by achieving their individual goals.

The main duties of a Support Worker include, but are not limited to:

  • Community access: transport to appointments and / or facilitate community outings, shopping etc.
  • Personal Care: including showering, personal hygiene, continence and grooming.
  • Domestic duties: including light housework, meal preparations etc.
  • Documentation: documenting all services, incidents and supports provided making sure they align with our participants goals.
Skills & Requirements
  • Mental Health experience is essential but not required.
  • Excellent work ethic, strong oral communication and written skills, can work both independently and part of the team, likes a challenge, shows initiative and problem solving.
  • Fit, energetic, and enthusiastic individual who can see the potential in people.
  • Apply a person‑centred approach when supporting Participants in their own home and / or out in the community.
  • Have a background in nursing and / or experience supporting a variety of NDIS participants with mental illness, intellectual and physical disabilities.
Essential Criteria
  • Experience with mental health, aged care, community and disability care.
  • Willing to provide personal care to both male and female participants.
  • Experience supporting participants using aids such as wheelchairs, walking frames or hoists or a willingness to learn.
  • Experience supporting Participants with daily living skills, food preparation and housekeeping.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Own and willing to use a comprehensively insured vehicle as part of a service – this includes transporting participants.
  • Covid‑19 Vaccinated and willing to have further vaccinations as directed by health authorities.
  • Must be willing to travel around Sydney.
Licence / Certification
  • NSW / International Driver’s Licence.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • NSW Working with Children’s Check.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • NDIS Orientation Certificate.
  • New Worker NDIS Induction Module Certificate.
  • COVID‑19 Training.
  • Must be vaccinated for Covid‑19.

Pay is based on the SCHADS Award (Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award).
