Job summary

Uniting is seeking a Pastoral Practitioner to provide person-centred spiritual and pastoral care across residential aged care communities in the Georges River and St George area. You will walk with residents and families, offering listening, companionship, and Christian spiritual care while respecting all beliefs.

You will work across multiple facilities, building trusted relationships, supporting chaplaincy services, and contributing to care planning and documentation of pastoral care.

Qualifications

• Experience in pastoral care, chaplaincy, spiritual care or a related discipline.
• Christian pastoral and spiritual care while working inclusively with people of all beliefs.
• Comfortable having meaningful conversations about faith, spirituality, loss and end-of-life.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one pastoral and spiritual support to residents and families.
• Support people through grief, adjustment, anxiety, illness and end-of-life.
• Listen deeply to help residents find meaning, hope, belonging and connection.
• Provide prayer, reflection and Christian spiritual care where appropriate.
• Build trusting relationships by understanding each resident’s background and life story.
• Support chapel services, worship and memorial services.
• Collaborate with care staff, facility managers and Chaplaincy & Pastoral Practice team.
• Document care referrals and appropriate pastoral care records.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Participate in supervision, training and reflective practice.
