Job summary

VMCH is seeking an enthusiastic Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant to help residents participate in activities aligned with their care plans. You will work in a friendly team to identify engagement strategies and organise activities for residents, including those with dementia, promoting healthy lifestyles.

Your role involves assessing needs, following guidance from experienced staff, and developing plans to handle challenging behaviour while encouraging participation and independence.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Certificate III in Leisure & Health or equivalent.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Previous experience in an aged care facility.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work without supervision.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong prioritisation and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify strategies and opportunities to maximise resident engagement.
• Organise activities for residents, including those with dementia, using familiar routines.
• Assess residents' leisure and health needs under supervision.
• Review information to establish residents' needs for leisure/recreation assessment.
• Develop strategies to handle challenging behaviour and maximise participation.
• Support a positive lifestyle environment and work with the team.
