The Sutherland Hospital, operated by South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), is seeking an After Hours Nurse Manager to lead nursing and midwifery after hours with hospital-wide responsibilities. Qualifications

• Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Recognised tertiary management qualifications or working towards same, and evidence of recent professional development to further enhance leadership and management competencies.
• Demonstrated experience in the application of change management principles and achievement of measurable outcomes.
• Demonstrated skills in leadership and senior management within a complex health care environment.
• Recent broad clinical, operational and strategic experience at a senior level within a complex health care environment.
• Demonstrated effective verbal, written and negotiation skills with an aptitude to utilise relevant information technology platforms and ability to provide a clear and concise plans and reports.
• Demonstrated understanding of Ministry of Health strategic directions, quality and safety framework and the Nursing & Midwifery agenda.
• Sound knowledge of current clinical practice, its delivery and models of care and the ability to motivate, inspire and lead staff to achieve service and professional goals.

Responsibilities

• The AHNM is a senior nurse responsible for the overall management of the facility outside of business hours, with whole of hospital responsibility.
• Operational management of patient access and care coordination and monitoring KPI targets such as Emergency Treatment Performance and Transfer of Care.
• Manage all significant events outside of business hours in consultation with the nominated Executive rostered on-call.
• Oversee nursing and support staff after hours including staff skill mix, shift replacement and Health Work & Safety responsibilities.
• Collaborate with the Patient Flow Co-Coordinator to progress nurse-led strategy and practice improvement.
