Job summary

North West Support School in Tasmania seeks an Advanced Skills Teacher (AST) to provide exemplary teaching and educational leadership, supporting positive student outcomes. The role involves assessing needs, delivering learning programs, monitoring progress, and fostering safe, inclusive learning environments.

Work closely with the Principal on curriculum development, mentoring, and school improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment
• Registered teacher with full registration under Teachers Registration Act 2000
• Qualifications as established by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award, 2005

Responsibilities

• Provide exemplary teaching and educational leadership to support positive student outcomes
• Assess student needs, develop and deliver effective learning programs
• Monitor student progress and create safe, inclusive, engaging learning environments
• Contribute to curriculum development, staff mentoring, and school improvement initiatives
• Engage with families and the community to foster inclusion and excellence
