Alfred Health offers the Pharmacy Advanced Training Residency Program for the 2027 intake, a fixed-term two-year contract across the Alfred Care Group. The residency provides formal structured learning with 24 months in a chosen specialty within the Alfred Health Clinical Pharmacy Service.

The program supports advancement to advanced practice, with potential breadth placements at partner hospitals in regional Victoria or the Northern Territory.

Qualifications

• Clinical experience in clinical practice (3–7 years).
• Registration as a pharmacist with AHPRA is required.
• ANZCAP residency recognition (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.

About the Program

The Alfred Advanced Training Residency Program provides pharmacists with a formal structured program to support progression to advanced practice in a specific speciality practice area, utilising the AdPha Registrar Training Program framework

The 2027 program intake will offer placements in the following specialties:

• Adult Mental and Addiction Health
• Cancer
• Education
• Geriatric Medicine
• Peri-Operative Services
• Respiratory
• Surgical Services (with a Trauma focus)

The Two-year Advanced Training Residency offers

• Formal structured learning with 24 months in chosen specialty or affiliated practice area.
• A two-year full-time Grade 2 appointment within the Alfred Health Clinical Pharmacy Service.
• Formal awarding of an AdPha Registrar in the chosen specialty at the completion of the program.
• Opportunities for breadth placements in aligned specialties, including external rotations at our partner hospitals including in regional Victoria or the Northern Territory
• Note that the Advanced Training Residency program begins in March 2027. Successful candidates would commence early 2027 for a period of orientation prior to program commencement.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Clinical experience of 3 to 7 years in clinical practice
• Applicant must be a registered pharmacist with AHPRA
• Recognition as a Resident with the Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) OR hold an existing industry equivalent recognition desirable but not essential
