Job summary

Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network is seeking a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner candidate for the ED and Perinatal CL to operate from Victor Harbor with travel across the service. The role offers clinical autonomy and leadership within an advanced practice framework.

You will provide rapid, specialist mental health assessments, contribute to education and service improvement, and work across ED and inpatient settings.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as a Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia for at least three years and hold a current practising certificate.
• Hold a qualification in mental health nursing equivalent to a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
• Be authorised as a Nurse Practitioner (Mental Health) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Be willing to undertake a relevant Nurse Practitioner Masters’ post‑graduate qualification or meet the course requirements at the commencement of employment.
• To qualify as RN/M3 you must be registered or eligible for registration and hold a current practising certificate.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced mental health assessments, brief therapeutic interventions, prescribing (within scope), and disposition planning.
• Deliver specialist consultation, education, and clinical support to nursing and multidisciplinary staff across community, acute, and rehabilitation settings.
• Build the capability of regional services through a consultation-liaison approach that supports safe, recovery-oriented care.
• Contribute to quality improvement, research, education, and policy development activities to strengthen mental health service delivery.
