Randstad is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Team Leader on the Gold Coast, Queensland, for a 3-month temporary assignment with full-time hours. Hybrid work includes 1 day per week from home.

The role involves leading a high-volume AR team within a public sector framework and ensuring strong internal controls and compliance. You will oversee reconciliations, journal adjustments, and expert guidance to departmental stakeholders while driving continuous improvement in billing processes.

• Manage ledgers, cash allocations, and receipting processes to ensure audit readiness.
• Review and approve complex journal adjustments across core financial systems.
• Act as escalation point to resolve billing inquiries and revenue discrepancies.

Randstad is currently seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Team Leader to join a Queensland Government Department on the Gold Coast. This is an initial 3-month temporary assignment offering full-time hours and an immediate start, with potential for ongoing extension. This role offers an attractive casual hourly rate of $72.50 to $78.66 per hour plus superannuation, with hybrid working arrangements including 1 day work from home per week.

The successful candidate will lead and supervise an operational Accounts Receivable team delivering high-volume financial services within a public sector framework. You will oversee revenue initiatives, manage complex month-end reconciliations, and ensure robust internal controls and legislative compliance across government accounting standards. This opportunity is ideally suited to a proactive finance professional with demonstrated leadership, strong financial control experience, and the ability to operate effectively within large enterprise ERP environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, supervise, and mentor an operational Accounts Receivable team, overseeing daily workflow allocation, capability building, and performance management.
• Complete and review complex balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, month-end ledger adjustments, and accrual reporting.
• Ensure strict adherence to government accounting standards, public sector financial policies, and internal control frameworks, liaising directly with internal and external auditors.
• Manage special purpose ledgers, cash allocations, and receipting processes to ensure full audit readiness.
• Review, prepare, and approve standard and complex journal adjustments across core financial systems.
• Act as an escalation point to resolve complex billing inquiries, outstanding revenue issues, and customer account discrepancies.
• Provide expert operational advice to departmental stakeholders regarding revenue collection policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data collection processes, workflow efficiencies, and billing cycle integrity.
• Assist with financial systems data management, testing, and rate schedule maintenance.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience leading, supervising, or mentoring an Accounts Receivable, ideally within government or large complex organisations.
• Strong technical background across accrual accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, ledger maintenance, journal approvals, and year-end/audit compliance.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience utilising large-scale financial management systems (experience with SAP S/4HANA or similar enterprise ERPs is highly regarded).
• Prior background navigating structured billing schedules, fee frameworks, or multi-stream revenue environments is advantageous.
• Comprehensive understanding of public sector governance, internal control mechanisms, and financial compliance.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and written communication skills with the confidence to drive change and operational excellence.
• Strong analytical capability, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities autonomously.
