Job summary

Robertson Scannell is a Toowoomba-based financial firm seeking an enthusiastic professional to develop SMSF accounting expertise. A Commerce or Business degree with an Accounting major is preferred, with emphasis on learning and technical skill-building under experienced mentors.

You will handle day-to-day SMSF processing, prepare financial statements, tax returns, and workpapers, and coordinate with clients and auditors while collaborating with the team to grow your career.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree qualification (or near graduation) in Commerce or Business with an Accounting major.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in financial work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to learn and develop SMSF accounting skills.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day processing of the SMSF function.
• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and supporting documentation.
• Prepare comprehensive workpapers and audit documentation.
• Liaise with clients and provide timely updates.
• Perform BAS preparation and TBAR compliance tasks.
• Liaise with auditors and assist the team as needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and support.

Your role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to join our team and further develop their expertise in SMSF Accounting. To be successful in your application, you will have a Bachelor Degree in Commerce or Business, with an Accounting major, or near graduating. Most importantly, you will be keen to learn and interested in developing your technical skills in SMSF accounting.

In this position, you will work closely with and learn from, highly experienced professionals who will provide guidance and support, while giving you the opportunity to build your technical knowledge and achieve your professional goals.

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day processing of the SMSF function, including but not limited to:

• Preparation of financial statements, income tax returns and supporting compliance documentation
• Preparation of comprehensive workpapers and audit documentation
• Liaising with clients
• BAS preparation
• Quarterly TBAR compliance processing/reporting
• Liaising with auditors
• Work collaboratively with the team providing support and sharing knowledge
