Job summary

SMB Accounting, based in Melbourne's Brunswick office with expansion plans to the east coast, seeks an ambitious accountant eager to progress toward ownership. You will manage client work from start to finish, including independent work across diverse client types including not-for-profits and SMSFs.

The role involves preparing financial statements, tax returns for various entities, BAS/GST compliance, and providing taxation advice. Opportunity to grow within the firm as it expands.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year public practice experience.
• An accounting or associated degree.
• CPA, IPA or CA qualifications (or working towards).
• Working knowledge of Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements for management, shareholders and statutory bodies.
• Prepare and lodge income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.
• Prepare and lodge BAS and manage GST compliance.
• Examine operating costs and income and expenditure for clients.
• Assist in formulating budgetary and accounting policies.
• Perform SMSF audit support and compliance work.
• Provide advice on taxation matters including CGT.
• Liaise with clients and provide accounting advisory support.
