Recreation Medical Centre in Melbourne is seeking a full-time Accountant to lead the practice's professional accounting function. This role focuses on statutory reporting, financial analysis, and advising the Practice Principal.

You'll work with a large clinical and administrative team, using Xero or MYOB to maintain strong internal controls, and you'll prepare monthly statements, budgets, and cash flows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in accounting, commerce or a related field.
• At least two years of professional accounting experience.
• Progress towards CPA Australia/CA ANZ/IPA highly regarded.
• Experience preparing financial statements and management reports.

Responsabilités

• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for management and external reporting.
• Analyse financial performance, cost variances and revenue across the medical practice and related activities, and provide recommendations to the Practice Principal.
• Prepare and monitor budgets and cash-flow forecasts.
• Maintain and improve accounting systems and internal controls.
• Prepare working papers and support BAS, tax and other statutory lodgements.
• Provide financial advice on operational matters relevant to a multi-doctor medical practice.
• Oversee month-end and year-end processes and complex reconciliations.
• Support external accountants with accurate schedules and explanations.
• Use Xero or MYOB at a skilled level.

Recreation Medical Centre is an accredited multi-doctor general practice and regenerative medicine clinic, operating from Malvern and Armadale. The practice has a large clinical and administrative team and several income streams, including patient fees, service-fee arrangements with non-owner doctors, Surecell regenerative medicine and medical supplies, government incentive payments, and rental income.

About the Role

Recreation Medical Centre is recruiting a full-time Accountant to take responsibility for the practice's professional accounting function. This is not a bookkeeping, accounts payable, payroll or accounts clerk role. Transaction processing is already handled separately.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow, for management and external reporting

Analyse financial performance, cost variances and revenue across the medical practice and related activities, and provide recommendations to the Practice Principal

Prepare and monitor budgets and cash-flow forecasts

Maintain and improve accounting systems and internal controls

Prepare working papers and support BAS, tax and other statutory lodgements

Provide financial advice on operational matters relevant to a multi-doctor medical practice

Oversee month-end and year-end processes and complex reconciliations

Support external accountants with accurate schedules and explanations

Use Xero or MYOB at a skilled level

About you

A bachelor degree in accounting, commerce or a related field

At least two years' experience in a professional accounting role

Progress towards, or membership of, CPA Australia, CA ANZ or IPA is highly regarded

Experience preparing financial statements and management reports, not only data entry or accounts processing

Ability to explain financial results to non-financial managers
