Job summary

Sanitarium is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our Finance team in Australia, delivering accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance across the business. The role focuses on forecasting, audits, statutory statements and close processes, partnering with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

You will provide expertise on accounting standards, lease accounting (AASB16) and SAP-based pricing updates, while overseeing balance sheet reconciliations and banking compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accounting role within a complex business environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, compliance and financial reporting.
• Experience in cashflow forecasting, audit processes and financial statement preparation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience (SAP desirable).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate monthly cashflow forecasts.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for forecasting processes.
• Manage the National Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) process, including coordination of annual external audits.
• Coordinate and respond to external audit requests across the business.
• Prepare annual financial statements.
• Manage the closing and capitalisation of CAPEX projects.
• Complete and review assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage banking compliance, including covenant reporting and audit requirements.
• Act as a subject matter expert on accounting standards and compliance requirements.
• Ensure compliance and reporting for lease accounting (AASB16).
• Administer and oversee pricing updates within SAP.
• Review and approve supplier credit applications.
• Support finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business decision‑making.

We’re now hiring an experienced Accountant to join our Finance team and support the delivery of accurate, compliant and insightful financial information across the business.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the Accountant plays a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, and supporting the effective operation of core finance processes. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical accounting capability, attention to detail and the ability to partner with stakeholders across the business.

• Accounting or business degree (majoring in accounting)
• CPA / CA qualification (or working towards)
