Job summary
Cleanaway's Women's Driver Academy in North Melbourne offers a structured entry into transport and waste-management careers for women, female-identifying and non-binary people. No heavy vehicle experience is required, and you'll receive training, mentoring and support to become a safe, professional driver.
Based at North Melbourne, you will learn to operate rear lift and side lift vehicles, complete daily safety checks, and service metropolitan Melbourne.
Qualifications
- No heavy vehicle driving experience is required.
- Hold a current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence for at least 24 months
- Minimum of 8 demerit points on licence
- Be willing to obtain a Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence
- Be willing to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
- Be willing to complete drug and alcohol testing
- Be available for early morning starts from 4:30am
- Have reliable transport to attend work
- Be physically capable of operational duties including climbing, walking, lifting, pushing and pulling
Responsibilities
- Learning to safely operate rear lift and side lift collection vehicles
- Completing daily vehicle inspections and safety checks
- Collecting waste and recycling from customers across Melbourne
- Working safely around traffic, pedestrians and busy urban environments
- Performing manual handling activities where required
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions

- Working as part of a supportive and safety-focused operations team

Based at our North Melbourne Branch on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country, you'll join a supportive team and receive structured training designed to help you become a safe and professional driver.
You'll work alongside experienced operators and mentors while learning how to safely operate rear lift and side lift collection vehicles servicing commercial and municipal customers across metropolitan Melbourne.
