Every Contact Matters

The Northern Territory Department of Corrections plays an important role in keeping our communities safe by helping break the cycle of crime, reduce reoffending and improve the lives of offenders through education, training and employment opportunities.

Under the newly developed Rehabilitation and Reintegration (R&R) Framework the Clinical Rehabilitation team requires Aboriginal Program Facilitators to support our existing team of psychologists, social workers and Aboriginal Program Facilitators to deliver offence-related intensive treatment programs. There are opportunities to support the development of new intensive programs for both men and women within the prison system. This is an opportunity to develop your facilitation skills within a correctional setting and to support Aboriginal prisoners.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary Clinical Rehabilitation team supporting Aboriginal offenders to address offence-related behaviours and reduce reoffending. The role involves co-facilitating evidence-based rehabilitation programs alongside clinicians, providing cultural brokerage and advice to inform assessment and treatment planning, and supporting offenders to engage in appropriate interventions that address identified criminogenic risks and needs. You will play a key role in case management and sentence management activities, provide cultural guidance to clinical and administrative staff, maintain accurate program records and data, and ensure compliance with program standards and procedures. The successful applicant will be a collaborative team member who is committed to professional development, cultural safety, and achieving positive outcomes for Aboriginal offenders through effective rehabilitation and reintegration.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary package including 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave
  • Additional 3-day’s paid leave over Christmas – New Year
  • 17.5% annual leave loading
  • 12% superannuation
