Job summary

Department of Education, Western Australia seeks to establish a pool of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise in the 2027 school year at Joseph Banks Secondary College, Banksia Grove.

Successful applicants will work with the Principal and leadership teams to support culturally responsive practices, engage with Aboriginal families, and help deliver educational and pathway outcomes for students.

Qualifications

• Experience working with Aboriginal communities and culturally responsive practices.
• Ability to collaborate with school leadership and support staff to meet student needs.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of Joseph Banks SC as a culturally responsive school.
• Work with the Principal and leadership teams to provide culturally appropriate advice and support to students, staff and families.
• Liaise with Aboriginal families to improve engagement with the College.
• Assist teachers to meet educational and cultural needs relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
• Liaise with other agencies to support educational welfare of Indigenous students.
• Provide mentoring and pastoral care to encourage participation and achievement.
