Job summary

Palliative Care SA is seeking an Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer to support Aboriginal patients in hospital settings, ensuring culturally safe care and coordination across southern Adelaide health services.

The role is Aboriginal identified and requires strong liaison skills, community collaboration, and ability to work with clinicians to improve patient journeys. Salary is pro rata for ongoing part-time/full-time arrangements.

Qualifications

• Must have Cert III or IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally sensitive and accountable manner with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities.
• Ability to develop supportive and collaborative relationships with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities.
• Significant experience in working with Aboriginal individuals, their families and communities.
• Experience in computing skills, including email and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Support Aboriginal patients across SALHN to navigate hospital care.
• Assist clinicians in communicating health information culturally.
• Explain care and procedures in clear, understandable terms.
• Coordinate transport for patients and escorts, including interstate.
• Advocate for interpreter use and record Aboriginality status.
• Model appropriate professional conduct in the community.
