Job summary

The Aboriginal Attendance Officer – Identified role at NSW Department of Education is a full-time position based in Newcastle, NSW. The role requires 5 days per week with at least 4 days at an education office and up to 1 day remote, subject to requirements.

You will work to re-engage Aboriginal students by connecting with families, schools and agencies across NSW public schools. Essential requirements include WWCC clearance, willingness to travel, and commitment to Aboriginal education.

• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy.
• Experience with stakeholder engagement across external and internal partners.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the link between Aboriginal students, families, schools and agencies to support re-engagement in education.
• Support attendance targets and operate within the state-wide attendance program to meet department priorities.
