Job summary

Westbury Partners is seeking a hands-on Linux engineer to support and optimise large-scale HPC environments in Sydney. You will work across compute, storage, networking, and related infrastructure, resolving complex issues and building automation to improve reliability.

The role involves collaborating with researchers, engineers and vendors, participating in on-call rotations, and contributing to documentation and tooling to streamline operations in a fast-moving research setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of professional Linux experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Go or C.
• Experience with HPC environments is valuable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line operational support for 24/7 Linux HPC compute, storage, and network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across RDMA fabrics, batch schedulers, and storage systems.
• Manage incidents and problem reports through their lifecycle, escalating when required.
• Respond quickly to infrastructure alerts and participate in maintenance windows.
• Develop code and tooling to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve operational problems.
• Automate frequently performed operational tasks and contribute to testing and documentation.
