Job summary

NapCo invites applications for a Machinery Operator at Marion Downs Station, QLD. You will operate a Grader and other machinery to maintain roads and drainage, perform general station maintenance, and support a busy cattle property in the Queensland Channel Country.

The role requires regular camping with self-contained accommodation on site, with meals plus an active training and team culture. A permanent full‑time position offers a competitive day rate and opportunities to growth within NapCo.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a Grader, Loader, Dozer and other machinery.
• Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in operating a Grader and other machinery.
• Hold a current drivers license

Responsibilities

• Operating Grader to maintain roads, drainage works and erosion control
• Machinery operations for property maintenance
• Maintains machinery in good working order
• Undertakes mechanical prestart and general maintenance
• Undertaking varied station tasks (e.g. welding, fencing)
• Assisting the crew with adhoc/general station duties

Marion Downs Station, 1.2 million hectares located in the Queensland Channel Country, approx. 4 hours south of Mt Isa, 1 hour south of Boulia. Stunning country varying from floodplains to open rolling downs vegetation to desert country, the property includes Herbert Downs, Outstation.
The Role
Reporting to the Marion Downs Station Manager, the Machinery Operator maintains property roads, undertakes property maintenance, drainage works and erosion control.

Day to Day duties include:

• Operating Grader to maintain roads, drainage works and erosion control
• Machinery operations for property maintenance
• Maintains machinery in good working order
• Undertakes mechanical prestart and general maintenance
• Undertaking varied station tasks - when there is no grader work to be done, there is always plenty to do around the station (i.e. welding, fencing etc..)
• Assisting the crew when needed with adhocgeneral station duties.

Due to the size of Marion Downs, the Machinery Operator regularly camps and is equipped with self-contained mobile accommodation.

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience operating a Grader, Loader,Dozer and other machinery
• Have good mechanical knowledge of equipment
• Have relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in operating a Grader and other machinery
• Be able to take direction from the Station Manager as tasks may vary day to day
• Maintain all station equipment as if it were your own
• Hold a current drivers license
