North Kansas City Schools seeks a coach with a valid Missouri teaching or substitute certificate to support the athletic program. The role involves assisting in coaching, planning regular practices, and coordinating interscholastic contests with the athletic director and head coach.

Responsibilities include equipment management, safety oversight of facilities, enforcing discipline and sportsmanship, and helping organize a comprehensive sports program while maintaining required district records

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri teacher or substitute certificate issued through DESE.
• Preferred coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• Ability to perform essential functions with required attributes.

• Assist in planning and scheduling regular practice in-season.
• Work with athletic director and Head Coach to schedule interscholastic contests.
• Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
• Maintain attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversee safety conditions of the facility during practice.
• Establish performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanship at all times, and oversee penalties for breaches.
• Assist in organizing and supervising a total sports program.
• Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
• Comply with district rules, regulations, and policies.
• Regular attendance is essential.
• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Missouri teacher or substitute certificate issued through DESE
2. Preferred previous coaching experience in assigned sport
3. Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

REPORTS TO: The athletic director who provides overall objectives and final evaluations in conjunction with the building administrator.

JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

8. Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
9. Assists in organizing and supervising a total sports program.
10. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
11. Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
12. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
13. Other duties as required or assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
