Club Mount Lewis is seeking a 1st or 2nd Year Apprentice Greenkeeper to join our team in Greenacre, Sydney. You will help maintain bowling greens, surrounds and Club grounds while completing your formal apprenticeship.

Gain hands-on experience in turf management, machinery operation and green preparation under the guidance of our skilled team. This entry role offers apprenticeship wages under the applicable Award and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Currently a 1st or 2nd Year Apprentice Greenkeeper.
• Interest in turf management and outdoor work.
• Reliable, punctual and eager to learn.
• Physically capable of outdoor and manual work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day maintenance of bowling greens and surrounds.
• Mow, roll, edge and perform turf maintenance.
• Assist with renovation, fertilising, aeration and turf improvement programs.
• Operate irrigation and assist with basic maintenance.
• Monitor turf conditions and manage pests/weeds.
• Maintain gardens, surrounds and general Club grounds.
• Safe operation and care of turf machinery and equipment.
• Prepare greens and surrounds for competitions and events.
• Follow WHS procedures and safe work practices.

Club Mount Lewis is a community-focused registered club located in Greenacre in Sydney's south-west. Our bowling greens are an important part of the Club, supporting competitive and social bowls, tournaments and community participation.

About the Role

Club Mount Lewis is seeking an enthusiastic 1st or 2nd Year Apprentice Greenkeeper to join our team and help maintain our bowling greens, surrounds and Club grounds to a high standard.

This is a great opportunity for someone already undertaking, or looking to continue, an apprenticeship as a Greenskeeper and develop their skills in the specialised area of bowling green preparation and maintenance. Working alongside our experienced team, you will receive hands‑on experience across all aspects of turf and grounds maintenance while completing your formal apprenticeship.

Your duties will include:

• Assisting with the day‑to‑day maintenance and preparation of bowling greens
• Mowing, rolling, edging and general turf maintenance
• Assisting with renovation, fertilising, aeration and turf improvement programs
• Irrigation operation and basic maintenance
• Monitoring turf condition, pests, weeds and diseases
• Maintaining gardens, surrounds and general Club grounds
• Safe operation and care of turf machinery and equipment
• Preparing greens and surrounds for competitions, tournaments and Club events
• Working with the greens team to ensure our facilities are presented to a high standard
• Following WHS procedures and safe work practices

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Is currently a 1st or 2nd Year Apprentice Greenkeeper, or has relevant turf experience and is looking to continue their apprenticeship
• Has a genuine interest in turf management and working outdoors
• Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn
• Takes pride in their work and presentation of the grounds
• Is physically capable of undertaking outdoor and manual work
• Can work both independently and as part of a team
• Is comfortable with early morning starts when required
• Driver's licence is desirable

Previous experience with bowling greens, golf courses, sporting fields or turf maintenance would be highly regarded, but is not essential.
