Job summary

Barwon Health in Victoria is seeking a Grade 3 Allied Health Assistant to deliver safe, 1:1 therapeutic observation support to inpatients under delegation by an allied health professional.

The role operates within a 1:1 observation model, contributing to quality improvement and policy development, and requires collaboration with the Access and Resource Unit to implement delegation procedures across shifts.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistant or equivalent.
• At least three years' experience as a Grade 2 AHA or equivalent.
• Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an inclusive, culturally safe way.
• Commitment to reflective practice and ongoing professional development with IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, person-centred 1:1 support to allocated consumers, carrying out delegated therapy programs and managing behaviours of concern.
• Recognise and report risk, document consumer engagement and behaviour accurately, and contribute to the 1:1 Observation quality improvement project.
• Collaborate with the treating allied health professional, nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team, and support supervision of Allied Health Assistant students on placement.
