Zusammenfassung

Zurich International School (ZIS) seeks an Economics teacher to inspire curiosity and growth for grades 7–12, aligning with ZIS standards and curricula. You will teach IB, AP, and ZIS courses while fostering multilingual learners and diverse thinkers.

The role includes mentoring, curriculum alignment, and supervising Extended Essays, with a strong emphasis on real-world connections and reflective practice across the campus and community.

We are seeking an Economics teacher to inspire curiosity, relational learning, academic growth, and transferable competencies across grades 7 through 12.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships, adopt a mentor mindset, and adapt instruction to meet the diverse academic, social and emotional needs of students
• Connect complex discipline knowledge to real-world context, and global issues in accordance with our Mission, values, principles and Portrait of a ZIS Learner
• Teach IB, AP and/or ZIS courses, as assigned, in alignment with official syllabus and ZIS standards
• Establish clear criteria and scaffold learning without lowering expectations, ensuring multilingual learners and diverse thinkers thrive
• Continually check for understanding, administer agreed-upon assessment tools, document progress, and provide timely, actionable feedback
• Participate actively in campus, departmental, and school-wide curriculum alignment and development
• Serve as an Extended Essay supervisor
• Attend, chaperone, and actively participate in an annual residential trip

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in Economics instruction, with expertise in IBDP and AP curricula
• Experience designing inquiry-based learning opportunities
• Commitment to building trust and partnerships with families
• Skilled at supporting diverse international learners, honoring different perspectives, and fostering language confidence
• Dedicated to establishing safe, welcoming daily routines where every learner feels known and safe to stretch their thinking
• Ability to solve everyday classroom challenges with resourcefulness, warmth, and practicality

Preferences

• Experience and interest in teaching additional social science subjects an advantage
• Skills and willingness to contribute to the wider school community through sports and activities

Experience & credentials

• Minimum experience: 3 years

Experience

• Demonstrated experience teaching across secondary grade levels with proven expertise or readiness for IBDP and AP
• Proven track record or capacity for Extended Essay supervision

Credentials

• Relevant degree and official secondary teaching credentials in the subject area

Compensation

Depending on education and experience you can expect a starting salary of between CHF 85,000 - 102,400
