A leading academic institution in Austria is seeking applicants for a Tenure-Track Professorship in Environmental Systems Research. This full-time position involves establishing an independent research group, developing innovative research projects, and contributing to academic teaching. Candidates must hold a PhD, possess excellent English skills, and be willing to achieve German proficiency. The role offers permanent employment, a dynamic research environment, and the potential for promotion to tenured associate professor.
Up to three positions of a Tenure-Track Professorship in the field of Environmental Systems Research (full-time position) are to be filled at the University of Vienna.
We are looking for applicants from all areas/disciplines in Environmental Systems Research who aim to establish an independent research group. The research group will tackle fundamental and interdisciplinary questions in environmental research using cutting‑edge methodologies.
Selected candidates will submit a joint application with an experienced host scientist to the current call for young investigators by the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF): https://wwtf.at/funding/programmes/vrg/#VRG26. If the funding decision is positive, the group will be financed for up to eight years, with up to 1.8 million EUR from the WWTF plus an additional contribution from the University.

Applicant will need to submit a joint WWTF grant application by March 10, 2026, 2 pm.
