Software Developer (Backend SaaS) – Canonical
Canonical is a leading provider of open‑source software and operating systems. Our flagship platform, Ubuntu, powers critical infrastructures in public cloud, data science, AI, IoT, and more. We are building the next generation of Landscape, a management solution for Ubuntu at enterprises, and we need an experienced backend engineer to help shape the product.
Location: Remote, Americas region
What you’ll do
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team
- Write high‑quality code to create new features, fix bugs, and modernise the Landscape codebase
- Implement and maintain public‑facing APIs and web services (Python)
- Apply automated testing and code‑quality best practices
- Participate in architectural and code reviews
- Own problems end‑to‑end and deliver solutions
- Assist with release management during development cycles
- Work remotely with global travel to internal and external events (2‑4 weeks/year)

- Hold a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or related field
- Proficient developing public‑facing APIs and web applications using Python (Flask, Django)
- Experienced with databases and ORMs (PostgreSQL a plus)
- Comfortable using Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform
