University of Vienna sucht eine/n Senior Lecturer (academic teaching) für die Fakultät. Sie unterrichten auf Bachelor- und Masterebene in Deutsch und Englisch und betreuen wissenschaftliche Arbeiten. Zusätzlich gestalten Sie Lehrformate weiter und tragen zur Lehre in digitaler Form bei.

Die Position umfasst 20 Stunden pro Woche, mit der Aussicht auf eine unbefristete Anstellung nach positiver Evaluierung. Es erwartet Sie ein internationales Umfeld mit Weiterbildungsmöglichkeiten und einem Fokus

Qualifikationen

• Abgeschlossenes Doktorat im Fachgebiet
• Sehr gute didaktische Fähigkeiten (inkl. digitaler Formate) und kritische Nutzung von KI-Tools in der Lehre
• Kenntnisse quantitativer und qualitativer Methoden
• Fähigkeit, in Deutsch und Englisch zu lehren
• Teamplayer mit Begeisterung für Hochschullehre

Aufgaben

• Selbstständige Durchführung von Lehrveranstaltungen auf Bachelor- und Masterebene in Deutsch und Englisch
• Betreuung von Seminararbeiten und Masterarbeiten
• Aktive Mitentwicklung von Lehr- und Prüfungsformaten, inklusive digitaler Angebote
• Fortlaufende fachliche Aktualisierung und Einbindung in Forschungsaufgaben
• Mitarbeit in administrativen Aufgaben, insbesondere Lehrveranstaltungsverwaltung

As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in educating students. Besides a solid academic education, we attach particular importance to the personal development of students. The Senior Lecturer position is assigned to the Department of Geography and Regional Research (Institut für Geographie und Regionalforschung / IfGR) at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy. With more than 100 academic staff and 3,500 students, IfGR offers an inspiring environment for addressing urgent societal challenges in research and teaching from a geographical perspective. As Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in teaching both at the Bachelor's level and at the Master's level in the field of human and economic geography. In the Bachelor area, the focus is on teaching the basics and methods of human geography. In the Master area, the focus is on the geographies of socio-economic sustainability transformations.

The working time of 20 hours per week includes teaching duties of, on average, 7 semester hours of academic teaching.

• You independently conduct courses at the Bachelor's and Master's level in the field of human and economic geography in German and English language
• You supervise papers of students in Bachelor's courses and Master's theses (on the basis of the statutes of the University of Vienna)
• You actively contribute to (further) developing course and exam formats (including digital teaching and learning opportunities)
• The ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as didactic further education and taking over research tasks are expected
• In addition, the egagement in administrative activities, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the task profile

Preconditions for an application / terms of admission:

• Completed doctorate in the subject area
• Several years of independent, professionally relevant, and well-evaluated teaching at a post-secondary educational institution
• Very good didactic skills (including digital formats) and the critical use of AI tools in teaching
• Knowledge of methods (quantitative, qualitative)
• Competence to teach in German and English language
• Teamplayer; enthusiasm for passing on knowledge and for university teaching
