AI:AT - AI Factory Austria in Vienna seeks a Senior Full-Stack AI Architect to design end-to-end AI solutions, spanning model development, data pipelines, evaluation, MLOps, and trustworthy AI, with integration into client landscapes.

You will shape architecture and service portfolios for AI infrastructure, craft reference architectures for LLM fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, and AI agents, ensuring scalable deployment across hybrid cloud and HPC environments.

Qualifikationen

• Several years of experience in AI architecture, AI/ML solution design and scalable MLOps environments.
• Strong understanding of AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), data pipelines, and cloud/HPC infrastructure.
• Practical experience with responsible-AI frameworks and EU AI Act compliance is advantageous.
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work across organisations.

Aufgaben

• Architect and design end-to-end AI solutions, including model development, data pipelines, evaluation, MLOps and trustworthy AI.
• Define and evolve architecture and service portfolio for AI infrastructure and applications with partners.

• Collaborate with data scientists and domain experts to translate needs into robust architecture.

• Ensure sustainable exploitation of results including patents, licenses, and technology transfer; represent AI Factory Austria in committees.

AI:AT - the AI Factory Austria - is making Austria a hotspot for Artificial Intelligence in Europe.

AI:AT is a joint project of AIT and Advanced Computing Austria. It brings together top-level expertise in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and data ecosystems, creating an interdisciplinary innovation environment for research, development, start-ups, and industrial projects.

AI:AT - the AI Factory Austria - provides access to cutting-edge AI infrastructure, promotes trustworthy AI and ethical standards, and serves as a hub for networking with national and European partners. The goal is to work with partners from industry and public institutions to develop and implement forward-looking AI technologies and viable AI solutions.

As part of the collaboration within the AI Factory Austria, the Austrian Institute of Technology will delegate experts to the AI Factory Austria. For our location in Vienna (Karl-Farkas-Gasse, 1030), we are seeking a:

Senior Full-Stack AI Architect (f/m/d)

AI:AT - AI FACTORY AUSTRIA

• You are responsible for the architecture and design end-to-end AI solutions, covering model development, data pipelines, evaluation, MLOps, and trustworthy AI, also considering integration into client technical landscapes
• You define and evolve the architecture and service portfolio for AI infrastructure and applications in collaboration with partner organisations, industry, and public institutions.
• You develop reference architectures and workflows (e.g., LLM fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, AI agents) and provide technical guidance for implementation in partner projects.
• You ensure seamless integration of AI services across hybrid cloud and HPC environments, focusing on scalability, performance, and reliability.
• You design systems for scalability and performance, ensuring that AI solutions can be reliably deployed and operated at scale.
• You embed trustworthy AI principles into system design - addressing transparency, bias, privacy, and compliance with the EU AI Act.
• You collaborate with data scientists and domain experts to translate user needs into robust and sustainable technical architecture.
• You are responsible for documentation, best practices, and training materials to support adoption and knowledge transfer.
• You ensure the sustainable implementation and exploitation of results (e.g., patents, licenses, company formation, technology transfer).
• You represent AI Factory Austria in national and international expert committees, networks, and conferences, significantly contributing to the visibility and reputation of Austria as an AI hub.
• Several years of experience in AI architecture, AI/ML solution design, and scalable MLOps environments
• Strong understanding of AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), data pipelines, and cloud/HPC infrastructure
• Proven practical experience in MLOps: Docker/Kubernetes, GitOps, MLflow/Kubeflow, observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK)
• Experience with HPC schedulers (e.g., SLURM) and hybrid cloud architectures
• Practical experience with Responsible-AI-Frameworks and the EU-AI-Regulations is advantageous
• Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working across disciplines and organisations
• Excellent language skills in English, German would be an advantage
• You should be eligible for working in Austria

• The gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) starts at EUR 73.794,-- as a minimum according to the non-university collective agreement. The base salary is supplemented by further, variable salary components. The actual total salary package will be determined individually based on your qualifications and experience.
